Yes this is a never ending battle. Currently I am in search of a laptop for Web Design/Graphic Design. What laptop do you suggest? Secondly which is better between a Dell XPS and MacBook Pro 17"?

Hi, nhdesigns07

To answer : Secondly which is better between a Dell XPS and MacBook Pro 17”?

MacBook Pro 17”. VS Dell XPS M1710, then, both got 17' screen.

At a hardware level, you can end with the same configuration if you customize the Dell, with only a different graphic card.

Then It is only a Vista Vs Leopard Battle...

Leopard (stock) seems pro, if you want to go for it, then go for it.

For web design, you will need the Creative Suite 3 Master Collection, which cost the same on Windows or Mac OS.

The only con of having a Mac would be if you design .NET, it would take you a little more work and tweak with Apache, it is more an IIS Vs Apache battle, but, at the end, it is the same.
But the XPS need to come with Vista Ultimate or XP Pro SP2, but at this level Leopard and MAC seems better.
The MacBook Pro 17 win the battle.

I exclusively use macbook pro 17" for web development. I use text-wrangler for my editor. I run parallels for my winblows testing and run xampp for local development. I love my mac, or more specifically, unix. Using grep, find, cron, and everything else nice about unix gives mac a leading edge over the microsoft blather. If I were to buy a PC, I'd put linux on it. It really is a question of what you are most comfortable with and do you like blue screens?

In my opinion if you're getting a laptop go Mac / If you're getting a desktop go PC
