It seems all the jobs out there now for PM or PM related skills require many, many, years of PM experience and to be PMP certified. I just don't understand how a junior level or mid level person that cannot get into PM can ever become a PM, it must be the case of being at the right place at the right time.

A word to the wise: don't ever work for a company in IT unless it is AT THE CORPORATE HQ. I have learned as I am in a current state of drudgery that it is near impossible to be included on any projects if your HQ is not in the same building as you. In my case my IT HQ is located in Norway and unfortunately,  they believe in a CENTRALIZED IT Strategy - puke. Any ideas or comments on this. I think PM is going to be the strongest growing trend in the IT industry as all things within IT will be done through projects.
