Posted 27 days ago Earlier this week, Yahoo finally killed GeoCities, ending an era of free homepage service. As the precursor to sites like Blogger and Wordpress, GeoCities will always be seen as an important part of the web's development. But will you miss GeoCities? | Posted 27 days ago I never ran a Geocities site myself, but my first ever website (a Matthew Sweet fan page called The DInosaur Act) competed with a few Geocities sites. I say competed, but back then we all felt like parts of a community. Kind of amazing to think that even 13 years ago you could still learn HTML in a night, grab a bit of free web space, and post a site... 'Course back then you probably had blink tags and little under construction GIFs on it... |

| Posted 23 days ago Little "Under Construction" GIFs. Brings back memories, 'sniff, sniff.' How things have changed. In the early part of the 1900's we had the Industrial Revolution. In the late 1900s into the 2000s we have the Technical Revolution. |
