I have something I can think of - When testing different templates for my blog, I noticed that there are only about 8 - 10 of them that are offered.

Keeping in mind that I am still looking, I am thinking, as I said earlier, about either using something from MS Publisher, Word or going to google and seeing if there is one I can modify, or, I can DESIGN one on my own, and if it works, I will upload it to my blogsite. but, again, any help i can get is appreciated.

I don't know what software you are using for this - But I'll throw my 2 cents worth in.  I use and developed my logo with Fireworks, its an industry standard for web and plays nice with Dreamweaver.    The graphics from it are high quality .png but you can save to gif, jpeg, etc.  As well as special effects.   There are a lot of  extensions available that can enhance the work you want to create.  Personally, I want to pick up a wacom pad to actually create original artwork using the app..

As per Roni Olson's suggestion, I have, at least for the time being, removed my blog from blogspot, and while I did move it to Wordpress, Roni, and thank you for the wonderful suggestion, I moved it to their commercial site, wordpress.com, as opposed to their organization site, wordpress.org

Also, Roni, could you possibly tell me where to find Fireworks, or possibly send me the .exe file for it?

Matthew,

Fireworks is not free, however Coreldraw Graphics suite version 4.0 is available.  I used to use it awhile back and it was a good program, take a look at it on www.cnet.com downloads area.  They specialize in freeware and shareware, you may find alot of other software that you can use.

I've used Corel in the past, but how good is it for adding graphics to my blog or one of the other sites I have put myself on?

I've not had recent experience with it, if it creates file with the proper extensions allowed it should work.

I've been playing with a couple of free web developement apps and graphics.  I like First Page 2006, It has a good development  interface, I'm not sure I care for the design interface.  It has a good number of tools and is fairly easy to use.  It is an open source program and for free I like it.  Another option for inserting graphics is More Motions application developer4, its free for non commercial use.  For graphics I'm tryin GIMP its an open source software that I'm told compares with Photshop, I'm going to play with it and see....
