I used to work for an education company that developed legacy financial and student management systems for local area school districts.  Anyway, we had a superintendent of a large school district argue with us about creating a button that would update each computer in his school district.  He wanted that "majic" button that would do whatever he wanted it to do at the moment and he knew it was possible because he saw it in a movie.  I have no idea how he ever got promoted from teacher to principal to superintendent with intelligence like that.

Awesome!  It's the theory that you rise to your level of stupidity.

"And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence."- Sound of Silence, Simon & Garfunkle

"Feed your Head"- White Rabbit, Jefferson Airplane

reminds me of two events that happened to me in my development career.
The first involved a warehousing system. The manager came to me and asked if I could install a "Are you sure" form because the workers were deleting entries and not making sure what was being deleted. Then afterwords they would discover it was the wrong item. After the form was included (about 2 weeks later) she came to me again and said, "My people are not checking to be sure before they click on the OK. So, could you put in another form that says, "Are you REALLY sure?".
The other involved a Navy Officer while I was a Systems Administrator. He asked me if I could write a program to do the job of a Systems Administrator...I had to laugh and told him, "Sorry, you're stuck with me!"

Ohhh man....I really laughed at both of those entries. (HiYella2 and Celtic)

HiYella2....you're lucky that he didn't watch Harry Potter when you were there, or he would have asked you for a majic wand to wave, instead of the button. I'm still laughing......no really. :)

Celtic...I wonder if she would have come back a week later to have you add an additional "Are you REALLY, REALLY sure?" form. Oh the humanity.
