Not to change the subject but one of our "Executive Secretaries" received a CD with pictures on it, she called my desk frantically, ' Isiah, I placed the disk in the tray but I cannot see any of the pictures. Knowing this particular user, I said "Oh Boy" I'll be right over. I get there open up "My Computer" on her desk top, click on the "D drive",...Nothing. I said I better take the disk out and make sure it's not empty. Open the tray, and lo and behold, the disk was in upside down. She tried to put in with the label up but it wouldn't fit. It's a hole right?

A famous American once said these words, and I feel that they are appropriate at this moment. "These are the times that try men's souls."

Lmao, it didn't fit. Sorry, I am laughing so hard my eyes are tearing. How did this woman become an "executive secretary?" I am thinking her other "assets" must have interested her boss.

Mz Dori, happy to be a GEEK.

Putting a disk in upside-down is but the tip of the iceberg. I'm pretty sure most of us have heard, or even seen, people using the CD tray as a cup holder. I've done it as a joke (and sadly it works rather well for a McDonald's cup) but I used a dead drive. I've literally watched someone put a coffee mug (?!) on the tray and accidentally press the open/close button. Now that's comedy!

Putting in floppies upside-down is another really funny but notsofun problem to fix..

We used to joke about doing that when I was into yahoo chat. But as Shadowguard said, it is what keeps us in business. If people took care of their computers like they did other things, then we would not be needed. It is comical some of the things people do.

Yeah....but an upsidedown floppy disk? There are plenty more things that could keep you in business......I mean that's more comic relief than a legitimate IT problem. lol

Haha, yup, my ex did that twice! After the second time, since I couldn't convince him NOT to do it, I changed the boot order. He is one of those that shouldn't own a pc.

Yes we did. Another idea was that the computer administered a test when first powering it on. That way it would know what areas it needed to protect itself from the user, LoL.

I think the power button is a really good test for a user in itself.
