| Posted 6 months ago Hey, I like the sound of that...............all be it I would rather have a tall skinny tire over a fatter one any day. Unless you are going mudding or doing some slow rock crawling where you need to deflate a bit, a tall thinner tire is better. Well, in my opinion : ). But who am I but just a silly fishy.....I had a leaf over on my Scout, with a nice tall tire on it. Man I miss that hing. The forgetful fishy........I think??!!?? |

| Posted 6 months ago Those 295s were a high aspect ratio (70s or 75s?) on 16" rims. They could be deflated for rock crawling very nicely, though the truck was a bit heavy for that kind of activity I think. The best rock crawlers are Jeeps. And with the right tires, you could get really muddy if you cared to. But I don't like mud. (The truck's too hard to clean afterwards.) I put the wider tires on for snow, as in the Sierra Nevada snows we get here during the winter. Come to think of it we should get another foot of powder this weekend. Yee haa! Wide tires are good for flotation in the snow. |

| Posted 6 months ago Well, we got our foot of snow, but I didnt' make it there. The resorts are mostly closed, or closing. Still great skiing if you like rocks. I guess it's time for rock crawling. And I feel the need for a road trip coming on. |

My first car was a '66 MGB (red). It was a blast and pretty solidly built (unibody contruction, if I recall correctly) though the SU's needed adjustment weekly. I learned all about engines with that car. I did my first (and only) engine rebuild on that car. It was a blast. Not very fast, but fun to drive. |

| Posted 5 months ago Hubby started with a Challenger (gorgeous!). Then we got into the parenting thing and thought we need something practical...started with an El Camino, station wagon, sedan, a gas guzzling Chrysler New Yorker, then a pickup truck with camper. Moved on to the full size van, motor home (I"m lucky I didn't get a speeding ticket with that thing...power!), and finally I got a Caravan. Then we moved into the country: he got a Dodge Ram for work. He got 400,000 miles out of that one before we sold it to a nephew for $200. It's still running. Work provides him with a vehicle now, yet we have another Dodge Ram for him. I drive an Escape. |

You and the hubby sound very practical. So when are you going to finally replace the Challenger? |

| Posted 5 months ago My first car was a 1990 5.0 Mustang Hatchback. I got it for free from my father's aunt who had it sitting (and rotting away) in her driveway. Took about a month and a lot of junk yard parts to get it running to my likeing. After about 3 months though, I noticed a trend of my always have to fix SOMETHING that was breaking. Believe it or not, I enjoyed working on this car, but at the time, I wasn't finically capable to keep buying parts and what not, so I had to sell it. I had it for about a year more, before I had to say goodbye, though. My next car was a 99 Mustang V6 and all stock. This one I was paying for and decided once I paid it off and it was very much mine, I would then start to work on it. Sadly, I never got the opportunity as a few weeks ago I was in a car accident with it (other guys fault) and it became a total loss. I was thinking about just buying it from the salvage crew and repairing it myself, but the frame was messed up pretty badly and I definitely didn't have that type of cash to fix it. My next car will most likely be another Mustang. |

| Posted 5 months ago And roger that ditto, Brother Barry. A V10 or V16 would also do. We don't discriminate. As long as it has enough torque at full throttle to roll the eyes back in your head or cause you to black out. |

| Posted 5 months ago There is nothing like the feeling of punching the gas and being sucked down into the seat, feeling the G forces as the tires grab the road and the big block screams. Hearing the eshaust roar as you run through the gears going faster and faster till you peg the speedo and wathc the gas gauge drop. Getting excited just typing this. Might have to go for a drive on the country roads tonight.

| Posted 2 months ago My 2nd car was a 1968 Couger with an automatic transmission. When I took a 4 speed manual transmission out of a Mustang and put it in it then it got fast. At first I had trouble with rear end hop but a set of traction bars took care of that. I could beat my KZ1000 in the quarter mile, running low 12s. It's real speed was top in. I hit 160 mph with it once racing a 440 R/T. Never found out how fast it could really go. Then I had a 1969 Mach 1 with the 351 windsor and 4 speed manual transmission, with the Hertz linkage. It was fast but the 351 cleveland was the real fast one that everyone wanted back then. What really made them fast was the large valves they had in the heads for the 4 v model. After that I had a 1968 Mustang GT fastback with the 390 high output that I restroked with 428 rods. 4 speed manual transmision, and a Shelby racing suspension. Except for restroking the engine it came out of the show room that way. It had every option you could get on that model in 1968. Then came the fastest car I ever owned. In 1976 I bought a 1971 Road Runner from Steve Hahn (his dad owned the Crystler and Plymouth dealership in town). In 1975 this car was featured on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine when Steve won his class in the winter nationals at Pamona, CA. I completely rebuilt it and beat him in his new car at Seattle International Raceways in 1976. It did mid 10s in the quarter mile around 150 mph. I had it up to 180 mph on the highway once but never really found out how fast it would really go either. |

| Posted 2 months ago My first car was a 1963 Ford Fairlane with a 221 v8 and a two speed transmission. It really was a sweet car and got 18mpg! I loved that car, and it was fun to work on! It soon got to be too much fun and my "fun" budget looked like the national deficit. So like the gov. I went deeper in debt and bought a 1979 Ford Fairmont. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
