Yeah, I believe it was a couple of years ago. Carbon monoxide poisoning, very strange story. Actually saw Boston sometime in the 80s...they put on a really good show at Joe Lewis Arena.

Here's a weird one that jus popped into my head:

Don Van Vliet

(really weird, had an underground following the late '60 early '70s.

Yeah, really really weird.  He looks like he's on drugs and sings with a gravely voice that I've never heard anyone use before.

The Bacon Brothers?  I didn't know they had a band.  How are they?

Jerry Garcia (the late great - this is a local band for me so I'm a big fan)

Big Brother and the Holding Company, right?

There's a couple of videos from their NYC dvd where Beth Gibbons (Portishead) channels the spirit of Joplin in a spooky fashion.  Something about her stage pressence is so reminiscent and yet authentic.  Anyhow, I digress...

Yes.  Yes, they were.

The Sharp Dressed Man himself... ZZ Top.

Wolfgang Fink (time to up the difficulty a bit)

Enabler - Oh, man.  I can't do that one.  There are just too many greats out there.  So much depends on mood and style, you know?  John Pattitucci, Les Claypool, Stu Hamm, Mark Sandman,  Roger Waters, John Paul Jones, Tommy Shannon, Sting... just too many.  Mark King is one of my all time fave's though...

There's a good example of why.

You play, Enabler?

I did in high school.  Rhythm guitar in a folk rock group.

"I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me...

She showed me her room, isn't it good, norwegian wood?

She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,

So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair.

I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine,

We talked until two and then she said, "It's time for bed"

She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh.

I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath

And when I awoke, I was alone, this bird had flown

So I lit a fire, isn't it good, norwegian wood."

I remember playing that at a high school dance.  I don't remember much more.  We also did some Bob Dylan too.  He was real hot at the time.  (That'll give you some idea of my age.)

Wolfgang Fink = Willie & Lobo?  (you've got me on that one)

Glen Cornick (haha!)

.....you confused me for a second. isn't it the other way around, band member, then band?

There is no particular order, everyone seems to like to go with band member then band.
