Posted 8 months ago Since the original version of 5.0.0 was released on July 13, 2004, there have been several upgrades, or builds. The latest being 5.2.9-1, on March 10,2009. If this person was refering to latest versions, then yes, it has been five years. But, since you mentioned updates, those have been kept current. There have also been upgrades to 4.0 over the past few months. The forgetful fishy........I think??!!??

Posted 8 months ago Yeah it could be. Although it could be since 4.0 is still supported this is why they are still going with it, plus there was a recent update for PHP 4. I know that in my school it is a requirement to have Microsoft Office 2003, even though Office 2007 is out. The reason for this is that many students do not have computers that will support 2003, or they cannot afford to get it. Also, for an upcoming class, image editing, they require Photoshop Elements 3. Unfortunately you can't find 3, but you can use 5 for the course, since it is basically an upgrade on Photoshop Elements. Maybe the schools are trying to make it easier for students to get involved in these fields by not updating to the latest and greatest until they are tried and true? Of course waiting over five years to advance to PHP 5, is asking a bit much. The forgetful fishy........I think??!!??

Posted 8 months ago and plus them holding up for 5 is making it (as I have been told) so you cant use sessions and if they update to the new php that doesnt effect the students finacialy it only helps us out. so I really see no reason to have them wait.
