Posted 9 months ago Hello all :) So I am facing a decision that I need some help with. I have been working in my part of the IT world for a little over 5 years now. I was offered a job for the company I work for (I am currently a contractor). I know that the median average for my role is 94k a year, I asked for a bit more and they came back with 89k a year. I know with my experience, track record, and skills, that I am worth at least the average if not more. They did however, extend to me quite a lot of perks, including bonuses at a management level (which my company hands out every year), as well as benefits, 401k plans, pto and the works. So my question is, should I accept at the lowered value, given that the economy is bad, and the perks I have been given are very good. Or do you think I should still attempt to go for a higher rate? Is it worth it to haggle at a slightly higher rate?
I have a good repoire with the company, so I seriously doubt I would lose the job if I attempted to negotiate at a higher rate. |

| Posted 9 months ago Do you like working with this company? Can you live on what they are offering? If so, by all means take it. Jobs are getting harder to find every day. Consider yourself fortunate at this point. You can always negotiate a pay raise later when things improve. |

| Posted 9 months ago 89k, try 90k or take it at 89k 4000 bucks is nada, the economy is f* up, don't be such a snob not taking that job!! The day the economy gets better you will have even more experience, you could ask to renegociate or you can always find an another company to work with!!! Or, they always can get a guy from India or anywhere else that will do your job for 60k and that wouldn't be hard to do, so be happy with 89k. |
