My name is Stephen and I have been in IT professionally for 8 years. I started out as a depot technician and eventually purchased the business. I ran 2 retail computer stores for 6 years and a 25 seat cyber cafe. A couple years ago I felt I had peaked in the retail biz and desired to enter the enterprise game. Alas I couldnt even get an interview because, IMO, I had no formal training and no certifications. So a year ago I decided to go back to school to get certified...I am now finishing up the MCSA certification and working toward the MCSE then on to CCNA shortly thereafter.

I currently have A+, MCP, and Webmaster certifications. :D

Hello everyone. My name is Lisa, I am not a vet but have been involved with people in the military over the years. I used to be a live in care giver for a 91 year old gentleman who was a retired Lieutenant Colonel before he passed. He was active in the Army for 40 years, served in WWII, earned the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, and other medals of valor. He was one hell of a man. I am now roommates with his grandson who was injured while in the military and is now 100% disabled and retired. I also had someone whom I was close to get killed in Iraq. Living very close to Fort Knox means that the military lifestyle is alive and well in our community. I support our troops, before and after their service.

I feel that too many times people turn their backs on veterans after their service. How many men and woman have returned home only to be forgotten after the battles are won? This is something I have always, and will always, be passionate about.

The forgetful fishy........I think??!!??

Proud brother of a vet who went over to Irac. I read your saying at the front of this page I say (don't stand behind Vets and active ones Stand with them.) You just can't know what they have put out while over there. I know I don't and will never know I'm just glad to have such wonderfull people as our vets.

Hi, my friends - my name is Don, and I am just the right age to have missed the draft for Viet Nam, and then been too old for Granada, Desert Storm, et al.  However, my two key mentors in life were a Marine Staff Sargent and a Air Force Master Sargent, my dad went into Normandy as a tank commander a month after D-Day, I had uncles in WWII and Korea, and my cousin's kid is training for his fourth gulf tour, this time Afghanistan.  Oh, and my family fought on both sides of the Civil War.

I don't always agree with American foriegn policy, but I can tell you this - there is a reason the stripes on the flag are red.  It is because good people like you took up arms when we asked you to.

Any day you can thank a vet is a good day, so thanks to all of you for your service.

Hi, my name is Yinka, essentially with pure Military blood flowing through my every vein( though i've never put on a military  uniform). My father lived all his life in the military, taught me how a gun is shot  the military way and eventually I missed him to the "NIGERIAN ARMY" in the early 80's. I cherish and respect eveything veteran; the order, protocol and authority;..... the inner image  of power you see in yourselves when you put on service uniforms.

thanks phreadd for the invitation.

So what are you doing now? I know the job market is tough in Michigan. I lived in East Lansing many years ago when things were different. Also, as a Bravo, were you able to get certifications before you departed the military?

I am Tara, was in the Army from June 94-Sep serving as a 74B (Systems Analyst) Excellent Job by the way~ Go Signal.. hooah!~ Was medically seperated else i would be there now still serving proudly. Being a member of such a large and focused team was the second greatest accomplishment of my life. (kids are first of course!~)  I live in Mid Michigan now near my family. I had and still have issues adjusting to life as a civilian, i really loved being a soldier.   I am happy to be a member of this group and look forward to virtually meeting everyone!

My name is Emmitt and I'm retired Army after 21 years. I have three documented and one (I cant tell you about it, but it was ugly) combat tours under my belt. I came up as a telecommunication specialist (25U), transferred to switching systems (25F/25W) and got plenty of experience in information assurance and military intelligence systems along the way. Army life was good, allowing me to visit over 40 countries and spent 13 of 21 years outside of the US.

I think being a veteran is one of the greatest duties a citizen can perform for his or her country. I would encourage everyone to do thier part and reep the benefits the miltary can provide in the process. I currently work as a defense contractor for the US Army.

Greetings Everyone,

My name is Levi, I've be involved in IT since 1999 and in the military as a 25U since 2005.  Even though I've been a 25U since then I have never worked in a 25U slot, I've always been slotted as a 25B and for the most part I've had a pretty good experience with the military, aside from having to fight tooth and nail to get to go to the ACAP office.  If anyone needs anything that I may be able to assist with just let me know.

I am Mrs. Welling. I have had connections in the US Army for 30 years. 1 My Dad was in for 23 years and retired at Ft Hell, I mean Hood. And my Beloved Husband was in a while. I myself only made it to MEPS. I never signed my life to the military, I decided to stay happy.

Good job getting to the MEPS...just let others do the job while you sit home and be "happy".

Let's keep it friendly here. Not everyone is cut out for the military, and those that wait at home sacrifice just as much as their spouses doing the job.

 Hello,

I'm a 14-1/2 year Navy veteran, two years enlisted and 12-1/2 years commissioned.  I've served as a Machinist's Mate (Nuclear), a Naval Flight Officer (S-3B Viking) and an Information Professional.  I've had experience as Computers and Networks Officer (ADP), Aviation Safety Officer, Aerodynamics Instructor, Electronic Warfare Instructor, Communications Officer, Training Officer, and Chief of Staff for an Expeditionary Strike Group Commodore.  I've recently left the Navy and am in the market for a Government Service position...but I'm rapidly reaching the end of my patience waiting for the right one to come up.  I'd be interested in a private sector job if the benefits and security are there, but I just don't know.

In any case, I've got a lot of wide-ranging experience under my belt and I'm hoping for that to get recognized by a recruiter out there sooner rather than later.

Cheers,

Travis Rauch
