I'm guessing most of the non-Brits out there may not have come across a popular UK comedy called The IT Crowd about an IT technical support team exiled to the basement of Reynholm Industries.  OK even if 99% of you have heard of it there may be one poor lost soul who hasn't and this then is for you.

I'm asuming that people outside the UK can watch the show online, if not then do yourself a favour, buy the DVD box set and get ready to either laugh very hard or look blankly at the screen saying WTF

To see clips, watch whole shows or get more info just go here

Also when you're on the site, you may want to check out  Peep Show if you liked The IT Crowd though I should warn that this show contains strong language and sexual references (though no nudity or sexual content but it is for adults only)

Hope the links work and at least some of you find it funny!

Been watching IT Crowd since it started... I was tipped off about it by a friend in Sweden...love it.  Some of it is a little hokey...but British comedy is like that lol.  It has replaced AbFab for me :)

If that's the case MagiAwen if you haven't tried the Peep Show, I'd give it a go. But if you were put on to The IT Crowd by your friend they probably put you onto that show as well.  Have you come across "The League of Gentlemen", not so much hokey as very very very very strange?

This is an ad for a British chocolate bar but I promise it will make you smile...well, smile...or freak you out.  Suitable for children and small animals of a nervous disposition.  It can also be seen here on YouTube where it is quicker to load, but lower resolution.

If it doesn't make you smile you are dead from the hair follicles down, if you're bald then...you're just dead.

Haha, that chocolate bar video is hilarious! I am going to have to wait until this evening to watch the other videos. Worst thing about the chocolate bar video is it reminds me of my mom, she could do that with her eyebrows, Lmao.

Glad you liked it, it's one of those ads that is funny in any country.  I think I must have been botoxed as there is no way in hell my eyebrows could do that

IT Crowd is a ok show,

Only thing I did'nt like about it was when it first came on tv some customers would ring up & ask if we acted like the guys in IT Crowd & was it comparable to real life.

This was before I had even bothered to watch a episode, & it did give a really bad picture of what the IT Helpdesk is like & make it look like were all a bunch of lazy nerds.

So I despised that show for that reason.

I have noticed that many American's don't know how to take British, or Aussie for that matter, humor. This is probably the case with people who have watched the show and took it too literally. Maybe there should be a warning before the program comences. "Humor in show is not as literal as it seems, watch with extreme joclarity." LoL. I have always been a fan of both Aussie and British humor, sarcasm mixed with a little "duh" about life in general.

I see what you are saying, Deathrow...however, I never took the IT Crowd that way...and if anyone actually thinks it's completely representative of a geeks behavior...well...then apparently they also think Monty Python is entirely true and literal.

Second thought...maybe it is in some circles... lmao

Although I think dori is correct.  It is not that British or Aussie humour is any more "intelligent" or somehow "over the heads" of Americans...because trust me...I've seen some comedy from both that are just as stupid as some american comedies.  However, not everyone likes to think when they are being entertained and not everyone "gets" sarcasm and parody.

So it certainly isn't for everyone.

The "The IT crowd" is funny because it is close to the truth but then skews it in an absurd direction.  At the end of the day it is about a misunderstood group of people who don't quite fit in trying do their most to try to fit in, but always failing.  It's not as if everyone watching "Father Ted" thinks all Priests are like those on Craggy Island.  Though I've known a lot of Priests who would be at home on Craggy Island

Unfortunately a lot of people here take the skewed truth as verbatum. They don't always get the humor unless it is outrageously represented, like something that would never actually happen. Sometimes we find it easier to make fun of ourselves than it is to think that others are infalable. Does that make sense?

Sorry mz_dory been offline a while...it makes sense if you replace infalable with falable.  Unless you are making a different point.

I tried to watch the clips of The IT Crowd, but was getting the message that clips could not be viewed in my country, (US.)  I would love to see it though as I do enjoy British comedy like Father Ted, Are You Being Served and Keeping Up Appearances.  Maybe if I can contact BBC America I can request it if they have the license to show it.

ZDE Sorry you couldn't watch the clips. I have the same problem if I try to access some US content. Not sure if BBC America will have a license as it was a non BBC program. Though this link shows that it was broadcast on the IFC channel in America back in September 2008.

There are also a large number of clips available on www.youtube.com and the episodes are available on DVD.

Recently British comedy has been pretty bloody poor.

It is funny as the day is long, but I liked the old Rienholm better. The son is too much of a letch and takes the show in a different direction...

Tally ho on brit humor...

Can anybody tell me the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

It all depends on the relative humidity and if the swallow has a hangover.
