I know this is sort of a noob question for this forum. My wife has developed many basic html sites and is pretty good. She uses Dreamweaver and I am starting a business and want her to develop my site. There are a few really cool flash template sites out there and I was just wondering if she would  be able to edit the site properly not being very familiar with flash and also not owning flash (just downloaded demo last night so she could mess around with it.) The template I was looking at is posted below maybe someone can tell me what basic parts she would be able to edit and which not? Or if you would just stay from this idea.

As an ex-Flash developer via FlashMX  was cool [back-in-the-day] since music and moving images were all stored in a 'swf' and therefore could not be temper with outside of the application. And no more gif images.

Yet broadband was not as popular at that time so coding for different speed of modems was a major factor in creating a multimedia site.

Overall Silverlight 2.x should be explored if your creating a multimedia site.

Most folks would require a plugin for both Flash and Silverlight. But if "free" is a factor check out Silverlight and compare what you can & can't do in Flash.

IMEMINE says ...

Looks like you will need 3d studio max 5.1 as a requirement to run the template, I and all the other software listed on the templates site. Flash is just used as a component to some of its features. as to how it is built or put together it is hard to say without acquiring the template. looks cool though. I would think that you would need all the required software to edit template.

here is my guess:

The monitor is definitely 3dsmax

The text is probably edited with Dreamweaver as with the way it is laid out on the page(CSS, etc.)

the animations are probably flash .fla, like the snow in the monitor screens

the images and possibly some others like backgrounds and fancy text are Photoshop Document images and/or swf. (and sounds)

If you do not have the required software, just stay away from it. or you can have them design it for you.

You can use that for this site, but you can also use Flash.

Most text and images are set up in symbols in the library, to edit the txt just edit the symbol.

It should be easy but you do need to know a little about flash.
