This system sucks. The graphics are pretty good, but not SOOO much better than 360. It is also big and heavy and it gets really hot. Who cares that it is a blu-ray disc player? Do you even have a Blu-Ray disc?

Did I mention it is $600 (without even buying any game)!

Great console! It comes with Bluray already bundled, wireless controller which doesn't need batteries, built in wi-fi, free online gaming, an 80 gig HDD and supports 1080p all for 600 dollars unlike the other system that needs to add things and make you pay for them just to catch up with the next gen. The blu ray movies are well worth buying to show off to your friends the great sound and visual quality. It barely gets hot and doesn't ever over heat so you know there aren't any problems from the start. t's been known to been dropped down stairs and onto concrete and still work flawlessly. Must buy console if your into great quality gaming.

The price will go down one day, it is still a new product, we need to wait on the market to get a demand < at the offer to get decent price.

The system is great!!! If your into the shooter game look no further than Call of Duty 4(Online play), At first you might be a little discouraged, because you will be terrible and get killed very easily. Play the free for all match where there are no teams, this will help you develop your skills alot faster. once you get the hang of it you wont want to put your controller down.

I actually have the 60GB model, but this system is unmatched. Wireless connectivity makes online play simple and HDMI connections makes gaming setup fast and easy. Graphics are amazing and XrossMediaBar makes finding photos, music and video a breeze.

I pretty much didn't like video games, but I figured i'd buy a couple of games with it and use it as a DVD/BluRay player. It's great and the graphics are great. I'm glad I picked it up when it came out because I hear that the newer generation PS3's don't have backwards compatability. I'm definately glad I bought it. BluRay for the win!

I bought the 60 GB system right before they discontinued them. I'm glad I did. The free online play, the backwards compatibility, built-in Wi-Fi, great selection of games, four USB ports instead of 2, and a Blu Ray player to boot. It's got all the features of a 360, but you don't even have to pay for the online functionality. Now I just need a HD TV to take advantage of the 1080p. The only thing that keeps me away from this system for any length of time is my job hunt and my Wii, but I always come crawling back for more PS3.

People. im hearing nothing but how it is out of the Box. what about how open it is for customizing. I currently have mine running Linux on one side and that sucker can process like i have never seen on many of my PC games. Dont just buy one. open your mind and release the Monster in it.

I own a PS3, not this size as it is no good for my situation. Also i do own the 360 elite so don't think I'm just a ps3 fanboy. I had no preference and bought the systems at the same time.

Okay now for the review. Let me begin by stating that this model does not have HARDWARE backwards compatability. It uses software emulation which, for all out there who have never used an emulator, does not support all the games. I do realize that even the 60GB model, which i have, doesn't support all ps2 and ps1 games but it supports a much higher percentage from what i have personally found out. (i bought a 80GB for cheap off ebay to use as a webserver but ended up just using an old pc and sold it) I haven't looked at the official statistics for this so maybe someone else will submit those. The system is great in terms of raw power and the potential for other uses. Like DeRez, I to have installed linux, ubuntu specifically, on my PS3 and it does process EVERYTHING 10 times faster than my brand new Core 2 duo Extreme machine and my AMD X2. I do every thing from video/graphic editing to music recording and production with the ocasional game be played(on the linux side as of course i play non-stop on the ps3 side).

And I'm sorry for stating this, but Jon_Wirt who probably is a XBOX360 fanboy, is misinformed or has not done his own testing. When compared against the 360, the ps3 has far more hardware potential. It does indeed have better graphics than the 360 by far. What you have to take into consideration is that most games to date are developed for the 360 and ported to the ps3 and even on those games the graphics are still slightly better. Games that were completely developed for the PS3, like MGS4, are phenominally better in terms of graphics than anything the 360 has to offer. Now if anyone wants to argue that the gameplay isn't as smooth on the ps3, again this come back to the fact that most games to date are developed for the 360 and ported to the ps3. Any game developed for the ps3 directly are perfectly smooth. Its only the ones ported to the ps3 that are jerky which is the game developers fault for being lazy. Also the game selection for the ps3 could use a little bolstering but i do understand that it was released after the 360 and that is one of the main causes for this as well as the fact that linux developers are in short supply now a days and the completely new hardware platform that they all have to learn to code for. Also, DOESN'T HAVE BLUERAY!!?? Soon everyone and their grandma will have an HDTV with a blueray player. Also, It does not get hot at all and when it does it has a level 2 fan speed to compensate and within a few minutes its back down to normal temp. Its also not any bigger than the 360.

As a closing comment, Jon_Wirt, please don't hate on a system with false information and misaccusations. Just because Microsoft has brainwashed you doesn't mean that we will fall victim to their deceptions.

I love my PS3! It's not just my favorite gaming platform with exceptional graphics and digital sound but it's also my digital multi-media entertainment hub. It has seemlessly become a media server and an invaluable part of my home network. I use it everyday for something, whether it's playing music from my library, playing a game or watching a DVD or BLURay...
