Ullman's task-based approach make the book a great reference for those of us who need a quick answer to a specific question. There are pictures depicting how the coding goes together, and tip boxes throughout, which offer additional guidance on how to achieve the result you want.
There are also 3 great examples that walk through setting up 3 of the most common PHP/MySQL applications used on websites; a content management system, a user registration system, and an e-commerce website.
This has been a great addition to my reference library, and I would recommend it to anyone.
