How Many Friends Do We Need?
Source: Wall St. Journal

As users of Facebook, MySpace and other social-networking sites pile up hundreds, even thousands, of "friends," several commentators and news articles have cautioned that there is a natural limit to a friendship circle.

True friendships are hard to develop and maintain. People these days are too busy and although they may have hundreds of acquaintences a true friend is someone who is there through the thick or thin. Someone you can count on day or night. Yes, I have friends but our friendships could be even better if life was not so busy and we weren't always so caught up with a million things and trying to juggle it all at once.

Hmmm. I still agree with my grandmother when she said, "You can know hundreds of people, but consider yourself lucky if you can count your good, thick through thin friends on one hand...count yourself lucky.
I know a lot of people...hundreds. But knowing and having a true friendship...that's different. How many people on these friend circle sites would come over to eat ice cream with you when you had a bad day? How many could you call that would come at 3am to help you change a flat tire?

I would think the more friends the more enriched life we lead right?

You never have too many...they just need to be good friends...not the misery loves company type.
