Ubuntu's Encrypted Home Directory: A Canonical Approach to Data Privacy

Yet another reason Ubuntu Rules (and MS drools!)... I've used both the Private Directory method, and now the fully encrypted /Home directory. I've never noticed any significant performance impact, and the login takes maybe an eye-blink longer. Something this article points out that I was unaware of is the ability to use the eCryptfs in the cloud, as well as on your local system - something that answers a HUGE concern of mine regarding cloud security. Linux Mag, in its usual quality fashion, includes CLI code for several of the processes of mounting/unmounting, restoring from backup, and retrieval of your passphrase.
