Ways to make Windows viata faster

But some say that Windows Vista is slow, or to put it "Resource Hog".
Well one of the key facts some miss, is the system requirements that is one the side of the Windows Vista CD Case.
My computer system is a Intel Pentium Processor 4 CPU with 3.00MHz.
and 2GB RAM. I've used other operating systems on this machine, as in linux, XP, and Vista Basic (Now have Premium).
Now let's get to the ways of making Windows Vista faster.
1.1. Be sure to clear ALL cookies, browsing history, temporary files, and others from your browser. (Whether it'd be Firefox, or Internet Explore.)
1.2. Remove programs you don't use anymore. (As well as the "Preinstalled" operating systems, they put tons of programs that are useless on the machine that makes it go slower.)
1.3. Do a "Disk Clean-UP" on any Hard Drives/Removable Drives that you have on your computer. (The main hard drive needs lots more clean up, so check anything in the list that has any kg., or MB., files.)
1.4. Run ALL important updates from Microsoft, that will help improve it's performance.
1.5. Try not running lots of programs/services that tend to use lots of memory. If you're not going to use a program for awhile, close it out.
1.6. Keep your desktop clean! This can sometimes cause lag during start up, or when you're hitting the desktop button that's on the left side of the task bar.
1.7. Vista can be used for media production, as in Audio or Video, but there are some important things to consider before doing so.
As in making sure your video card is compatible for Vista, and has enough Video RAM for your Video Editing software.
As in Audio Editing, be sure connections on your computer, and the sound settings are perfect, and in good working order. If you notice a noise sounding like a messed up audio tape, make sure your audio card is compatible for vista, and for audio production.
1.8. Most of the time, performance is apart of Hard Drive space. As I mentioned before, make sure you do a "Disk Clean-Up" on your Drive. As well as making sure your hard drive has enough space. I'd say a 300GB HDD is good for performance.
1.9. BIOS Updates! This is one of the ones I had problems with when I had XP. And this made it perform quite well. As well as Vista.
BIOS Updates will make your PC perform a little more better.
1.10. Want your PC to start-up quicker? Try using a second hard drive for your files, and the first one for booting up, and adding most programs.
This had made my PC boot up more quicker, than having everything on the first hard drive.
That concludes all the steps of making Windows Vista to go more faster.
You can also try out Windows Advance Care. This program searches your system for things like, spyware, broken registry, also removes your internet traces, and cleans junk files. Download here: http://www.benswebsite.org/downloads/pc/AWCSetup.exe
And one of the recommended virus protectors is Avast Anti-Virus. See here: www.avast.com
They have many programs, like Personal for PC, and Professional, Linux servers, etc.
With Personal, you only have to enter a license code once you install it. It will last for 60 days or so, and you get to re-register after that time.
This program does just about everything, like web shield, P2P shield, etc.

Upgrading to windows is the most simple and effective way to make Vista faster. But Vista isn't that slow.
You got to get credit to try to make faster Vista on a P4 3Mhz, I assume it is really 3Ghz.

I know you did this with good intentions but wow, that was hard to read. What's with the list all being 1.x? A lot of the stuff you mentioned make very little difference performance-wise. You should go deeper into the topic of services, listing extra services you might not need, depending on your situation.

Considering the subject, the content was appropriate. I found that many have a preconceived notion about anything Microsoft has on market. Vista has had its problems, like OS X or any new OS major overhaul. There are still newbies that would appreciate this information. This information is also helpful for any Other OS as well. There are tons of Vista guides out there, and here is one more on this site. We need to encourage, not make other scared to post. I think you did a good job!

Reading this article makes my head hurt. Does he not know how to form sentences? Lots of these 'suggestions' are just common knowledge when working with any computer. He needs to take a little bit more time to consider his audience before posting something like this.

Lol.. You seriously don't seem to have any inkling about Windows "Viata"...
and why use vista at all when u can have better performance from other operating systems without sticking to your "strict" regimen.
And By the way, Very recent processor you have, that 3.00 "Mhz" one.... :P

Windows viata? Also, why would you add a link to an executable in your guide? How about a link to a trusted source: http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare-Free/3000-2086_4-10407...
Not very good detail here. You need to spend much more time on each area, expanding them out with step by step and screen shots to be even remotely usable. There are dozens of Vista guides out there that are highly detailed, providing examples of each step.
This reads more like a brain dump of some thoughts you have, versus a well planned guide to improving the Vista experience.
