Firefox 3.5 Arrives Today. Get It While It's Hot.

One of your favorite Internet portals is about to seriously juice up.
Today, the Mozilla Foundation is releasing the latest version of Firefox, 3.5, more than a year since its last major release. Among the most important new developments is a flexible new browser-based video app that forgoes the use of plug-ins, a sweet location-aware feature, and sucker-free options such as an undo close window.
The last major version of Firefox, 3.0, fixed many annoying security and performance flaws and introduced a notoriously adaptable location bar. The latter improved web search through history data and replaced the use of bookmarks for many users.
Firefox 3.5 has been in heavy development for the past five months and after several beta tests, it’s ready to go. Let’s take a look at some of the new features:
- A faster rendering engine The JavaScript engine in Firefox 3.5 is supposed to push through websites at a much faster rate. Why does this matter? Websites that are built in JavaScript and require a lot of constant movement, such as Gmail, will move much faster in Firefox. Nice.
- HTML 5 support HTML 5 promises to help developers and content builders (from programmers down to bloggers) to embed video and audio on web pages as fast and easy as it is to add a hyperlink. Because HTML 5 is powered by open-standard codecs (like Ogg Vorbis), sites will no longer have to pay licensing fees to or be confined by the standards set up by the likes of Flash and QuickTime. This also means that the video watching experience will get a little more seamless. But how, exactly? A few examples: You’ll be able to increase the size of a video window through hot keys (or by dragging the box), create color filters for each video, and even superimpose videos on top of each other. Check out a recent video from TechCrunch below that shows some of these features.

I think Firefox should have a "Secure mode" or "Secure version" where your surfing is put through Elite proxies and an encrypted access tunnel with IP scrambling

Will have to download this and give it a try. Honestly though, ever since I started using Chrome, I haven't had a need for FireFox.

There is a BUG in your post, Jose.
The link to "download 3.5 right here" does NOT work.
It currently links to
http://insidetech.monster.com/news/articles/www.mozilla.com/firefox/all...
when instead it should be:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html
It looks like you were trying to do a redirect through the InsideTech site, but the syntax is wrong.

WOW - Mozilla really has a great development team!
I downloaded the following Firefox 3.5 Updates on the following dates:
1) 3.5 Beta 99 June 9th, 2009
2) 3.5 RC 2 June 20th, 2009
3) 3.5 RC 3 June 29th, 2009 (YESTERDAY)
4) 3.5 FINAL RELEASE June 30th, 2009 (TODAY)
One question I have for Mozilla though, is why the jump from version 3.0.11 to 3.5 ???
Where's versions 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4 ?
