Thanks. Merrill Corporation is a different company than Merrill Lynch. Merrill Lynch does realestate, we do almost everything but that... ironicly, Merrill Lynch uses some of our printing and data repository services.

Hi Mz Dori
Srry it took so long for me to check back to see how you where doing, but that problem I was having with my computer got a lot worse and I lost all my internet connection. I know I asked you for some help but unless you knew the exact problem it would have been tough for anyone to figure out. After I lost all my connection I stared to make some phone calls to my high speed internet carrier and gate way and others anyway after being on th phone for many hours I had talked to a tech who knew about thisd issue so I put together this little tidbit of inforamtion to pass along incase you or someelse you may know comes accross the same problem, whay you will find out in a few minutes took me several hours to do and it turned out to be a very easy thing to fix if you knew the what, where and why's of it. So here is the post woth reading and keeping in the back of your braind for futuer useage(LOL)
I wanted to give everyone an update on my computer issue. I found the problem and was able to fix it but it turned out to be an inconvenience on my part. Had I known about it from the beginning it would have only taken a few seconds to fix. If you know anyone using Norton’s security systems and wish to uninstall it please let them know about this little feature that they fail to mention or at least I don’t remember them telling me about it when I down loaded it in the beginning. When you run the uninstall feature from your programs file it will not take all of the security feature complete off your system even though it looks and acts like it did. In fact, it took several weeks before I realized I had a real problem. After I uninstalled Norton 360 soft ware I installed Symantec End point Protection that is put out by Norton’s but was available to me free through my school. Everything was running fine on my system for a week or two and then I started to notice that my programs and down loads where going much slower than usual. Then I lost my Ethernet connection to windows explorer but still could get on line via AOL, at this point I started to get concerned and started asking around for some help on this issue. I thought maybe I messed something up when I wipe down my keyboard even though I shut down my system prior to doing so. When I started to look into my system for an issue everything was telling me that all was okay even when I ran diagnostic available through windows. The one strange thing I did find out was I was running two different fire walls at the same time Norton’s 360 and windows. There was also a warning posted that if you are running two fire walls at the same time it could cause conflict which sounds reasonable. Then I remembered I had bought an extended warranty on my computer so I called them for help and as soon as I mention Norton’s security, the guy knew what the problem was, but we still ran some checks through the CMD window. When all was said and done the guy told me I need to go to Norton’s website and download their removal tool kit, he said that should fix the problem if not I would need a new Ethernet card in my computer( which luckily would have been covered under my warranty in case I had to do this). Well by this time I had lost all my internet connections so I had to go to my school and down load the removal tool from there and come back home to install it on my desk top. After I ran the tool, I had my connection to the internet back so I went ahead and reloaded my new security system from school and all seems like it is back to normal for now. May be I am the only one who didn’t know about this situation but I thought it best to make it known so if some else comes across the same problem they won’t have to spend as much time on this simple fix as I did. Had I not found out what the problem was the way I did I could have ended up spending money to fix a simple issue and how knows how much I would have been charged. AT&T is my high speed connector to the net and they offered to have a tech call me at a charge to help me figure it out what the problem may be. Had I not had the extended warranty I would have probably done that and spent who knows how much to realize that the software I paid for to protect my computer was the problems with my computer go figure huh? Sorry about the long post but I thought it was important info to spread around.
