Hey sorry I havn't been intouch with you about the graphics I have been working on nor have I posted any yet, but I do have some nice ones to put up. The problem I was having with my computer got a lot worse. Yesterday morning I lost all my internet connections not just my short cuts. So I spent several hours on the phone with AT&T who is my high speed connection as well as Gateway the kind of computer I am using and also the people whom I have my extended warranty through, which I am glad I bought now. I could have spent a lot of money trying to fix this issue and it turned out to be very simple if you knew all the reasons behind it. I was right in the fact that it was a fire wall issue. I had asked you and a few others in here if they had ever come upon a problem like this and no one had so I figured I would let everyone know what did happen. If you or someone you know has the same problem down the road you will know how to fix it and waste a whole day Like I did. It is a little long but worth the read, something to keep in the back your mind just in case. I know I am not the only one this has happened to nor will I be the last one.

I wanted to give everyone an update on my computer issue. I found the problem and was able to fix it but it turned out to be an inconvenience on my part. Had I known about it from the beginning it would have only taken a few seconds to fix. If you know anyone using Norton’s security systems and wish to uninstall it please let them know about this little feature that they fail to mention or at least I don’t remember them telling me about it when I down loaded it in the beginning. When you run the uninstall feature from your programs file it will not take all of the security feature complete off your system even though it looks and acts like it did. In fact, it took several weeks before I realized I had a real problem. After I uninstalled Norton 360 soft ware I installed Symantec End point Protection that is put out by Norton’s but was available to me free through my school. Everything was running fine on my system for a week or two and then I started to notice that my programs and down loads where going much slower than usual. Then I lost my Ethernet connection to windows explorer but still could get on line via AOL, at this point I started to get concerned and started asking around for some help on this issue. I thought maybe I messed something up when I wipe down my keyboard even though I shut down my system prior to doing so. When I started to look into my system for an issue everything was telling me that all was okay even when I ran diagnostic available through windows. The one strange thing I did find out was I was running two different fire walls at the same time Norton’s 360 and windows. There was also a warning posted that if you are running two fire walls at the same time it could cause conflict which sounds reasonable. Then I remembered I had bought an extended warranty on my computer so I called them for help and as soon as I mention Norton’s security, the guy knew what the problem was, but we still ran some checks through the CMD window. When all was said and done the guy told me I need to go to Norton’s website and download their removal tool kit, he said that should fix the problem if not I would need a new Ethernet card in my computer( which luckily would have been covered under my warranty in case I had to do this). Well by this time I had lost all my internet connections so I had to go to my school and down load the removal tool from there and come back home to install it on my desk top. After I ran the tool, I had my connection to the internet back so I went ahead and reloaded my new security system from school and all seems like it is back to normal for now. May be I am the only one who didn’t know about this situation but I thought it best to make it known so if some else comes across the same problem they won’t have to spend as much time on this simple fix as I did. Had I not found out what the problem was the way I did I could have ended up spending money to fix a simple issue and how knows how much I would have been charged. AT&T is my high speed connector to the net and they offered to have a tech call me at a charge to help me figure it out what the problem may be. Had I not had the extended warranty I would have probably done that and spent who knows how much to realize that the software I paid for to protect my computer was the problems with my computer go figure huh? Sorry about the long post but I thought it was important info to spread around.

Hey I am having an issue with my system I am going to try and exp[lain it the best I can will let me know it you have a qick fix for it thanks. I am asking a few people in here about it i am sure some one has come accross this before and because i couldn't have done that many things to provke it I think it is something simple I just don't want to screw around and make it worse.

Yesterday I wanted to clean my home office so I shut down my computer and didn’t move it anywhere. The only thing I did with the computer was wipe down the screen with this special stuff I bought, and I wiped off my key board with a dusting rag. I did push down on most of the keys as I wanted them to get clean from germs. When I finished I rebooted my system and now none of my desktop short cuts are working. My short cuts go through windows explorer and I am running Vista Home Premium on my computer which only about 18 months old. It is a Gateway Gt5562. I have never had a problem with this before. I did some checking and the only weird thing I came up with is that I have two fire walls running at the same time. I have Symantec End Point Protection antivirus down loaded on my system and windows fire wall. I was thinking that they where conflicting with each other I shut off the windows fire wall for a few seconds and that didn’t seem to work, but I got nervous because of all the warnings I was as getting for shutting it down. I figured someone in here would have some idea of what is going on and you came to mind first. Can you think about what could have caused this and how do I fix it. I even tried to click on the windows explorer Icon on my desk top it opens up a window but nothing happens after that it is as if I am not making an internet connection. I also use AOL and I not having any problems with that. Any help you could give I would be most great for
