About Me
A victim of a recent "Workforce Reduction" with my previous employer of 13 years I was forced into the swirling void of unemployed IT professionals. After a few interviews I realized I needed to do something to seperate myself from the herd and obtained both my CCNA and my MCSE: Security certifications. It payed off immediately as I was hired before I took my last two exams for my MCSE. Moral of the story, if you are out there looking for work, having a great resume just isn't enough. I would suggest you obtain at least one certification. It will show prospective employers that you have the dedication and intellect to complete something to the end. Now, just because you get a certification (or two) doesn't guarantee you will be able to land a position immediately. I believe I was extremely fortunate in my situation, but I also believe that had I applied for this same position without any certs I would still be looking.
