I can't believe Microsoft Windows was announced before Apple's Macintosh system - at least Macintosh was released prior to Windows release.

The network neighborhood icon can still be enabled on the desktop, only the name changed to "network". That seems like less of a deviation from the original Windows 95 implementation than the current start button and start menu - which has received an extensive overhaul.

Only thing I disagree with is that XP did NOT require a 300MHZ processor to install. Through command-line install I ran it for several years on a 200MHZ machine - and it increased the speed of that machine over 98!

I think you'll find that Mosaic (22 April 1993) and Netscape Navigator (15 December 1994) were both cross-platform from the start, and both pre-date IE 2.0 (November 1995), which wasn't even really cross platform until April 1996. How can you claim that IE 2.0 is the first cross platform browser?
